Speaker Bio:
Kathy Pain is Director of Applied Studies at GaWC (Globalization and World Cities), Loughborough University. She is a professional urban planner-geographer with a doctorate from the University of Reading and many years academic and research experience in the Geography and Planning disciplines. She is a Corporate Member of the British Royal Town Planning Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Kathy was co-director of the 2003-06 EUR 2.4 million European Union INTERREG IIIB ‘POLYNET’ study on global ‘mega-city region’ development in Europe with Professor Sir Peter Hall, University College London. She has been advisor to numerous government bodies and policy initiatives and an invited speaker on global city development at recent major international conferences in Europe, the United States, Canada and Pacific Asia.
