Speaker Bio:

Christopher Choa brings over 20 years of experience on a wide range of major urban design and architecture projects. He focuses on creating social, economic, and environmental sustainability through high-performance urbanism. Christopher has taught design or served as a visiting critic at the Harvard School of Design, the Rhode Island School of Design, Columbia University, and Yale University.

Exemplary environments include the expansion of Northwest Cambridge, the new European Embankment in St. Petersburg, the masterplan of Saadiyat Island in the UAE, the masterplan for Shanghai’s North Bund. Prior to EDAW, Christopher served as co-chair of New York New Visions, the design coalition for the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan.

Christopher’s projects and design work have been published in a wide range of professional journals, including Progressive Architecture, Architecture, World Architecture, Architectural Review, Interiors, Interior Design, The Wall Street Journal, Elle Décor, Japan Architect, and Di. He speaks regularly about urban design and architecture. His regular columns about architecture and urban design appear in The Shanghai Daily and as columnist for That’s Shanghai.
